An short Introduction to eBay
The majority of people in the world today have used eBay to either buy or sell goods. (www.ebay.com)
What you need to know before getting started?
What to Sell: What's your speciality? You'll do very well on eBay if you become a great source for certain type of products, as people who are interested in those products will come back to you again and again. You won't get any loyalty or real reputation if you just sell rubbish randomly.
Different eBay auction types: This is an overview of the different kinds of auctions and their advantages for you.(1) Normal Auctions. The auctions everyoneknows: buyers bid, others outbid them, they bid again, and the winner gets the item. Simple.(2)Reserve Auctions.Reserve auctions are for sellers who don't want their items to sell for less than a certain price - a concept you'll know about if you're familiarwith real auctions.(3)Fixed Price ('Buy it Now') Auctions.
A PayPal account is a necessity: PayPal and eBay were made for each other - and now that eBay own PayPal, using them together is getting even easier.
How to started on eBay?
Step 1: Create an eBay seller's account.
Open anaccount first using the 'register' link underneath the toolbar, and then click 'Sell' and 'Create a seller's account'. The eBay site will then guide you through the process. For security, this may involve giving card details and bank information.
Step 2: Decide what to sell.
Take a look around the room you're in - I'm sure there's something in there thatyou're not all that attached to and could put in the post. Small books and CDs are ideal first items.
Step 3: Submit your item.
The first thing you need to do is choose a category - it's best to just type in what the item is and let eBay choose for you. Next, write a title and description.
Step 4: Wait for it to sell.
Buyers will find your item and leave bids on it. Some bidders might email you with questions about the item, and you should do your best to answer these questions as quickly as you can.
Tips:Remember that if your item doesn't sell then you can list it again for free.
Step 5: Collect payment and post it.
eBay will sent your buyer emails guiding them through the process of sending you payment for the item. Make sure you have the money before you send anything.
The best Online Product
Okay, so there's no such thing as best online product. But considering what would be perfectmight spark ideas of what products are close to perfect. Here, then, is the perfect online product:
1 It's useful, with high margins. You're not making a dollar or two per sale; you'remaking dozens, maybe hundreds of dollars.
2 It's in demand. It's a product people want and are willing to pay for.
3 It's not widely available. Buying online may be the only way to find the product, or the particular variety of the product.
4 It's a "research" product. People are searching online for this product right now. (Mostproducts are not research products. At this very moment, out of hundreds of millions of Internet users, quite possibly only one or two are trying to find out how to buy sugar online.)
5 It's light and non-fragile, so it's cheap and easy to ship.
6 There's little or no competition on the internet.
7 People love the product so much they're going to tell their close friends about you.
8 There's no smell or texture, or anything else that makes the product one that "just has to be seen."
9 You are intimately connected to the product in some way. The product is related toyour hobby or passion.
10 Oh, and it's legal! While a number of illegal substances match the perfect-productcriteria, we're assuming the risk outweighs the benefits.
How to write your eBay title?
Most people only search eBay by title, not by description, and that means that you only have those 55 characters of the title to cover all the possible search terms.
Think like a buyer: If you were looking for your item, then what exactly would you type into that box? If you think it'd help, try searching yourself to find someone else selling your item. What were the first things you thought of typing?
Think like other sellers: Keep an eye on which sellers are doing best with items like yours, and try to copy their title styles - if it works for them, it can work for you.
Be specific: You should be sure to write the item's brand and specific model number in the title, as people will often search only for this information. Makesure that you also say exactly what the item is.
How to write your eBay description?
Once you've attracted the buyers in with your title, the next thing to do is to tell them all about your item with the description. But just what should you write in your description?
At its heart, your item description is an ad. Without making it too obvious, you should be writing sales content. You're trying to get buyers excited about your products, and that's usually hard - but on eBay, if you have the right thing to sell and give enough details, the buyers almost excite themselves.
Whatever you do, make sure you tell the truth!Don't write anything in the description if you don't know what it means, as the chances are someone will, and if you've got it slightly wrong then you'll look like you don't know what you're talking about.
Don't assume that anyone who wants extra information will email you to ask aquestion: many buyers are shy and won't do it. Think of questions that buyers might have and add the answers to your description, as people generally tend to ask the same questions over and over again. Each time a buyer does email you with a question, you should both answer their question and update your description so that it will include the answer next time.
If people ask questions that are answered in the description, try putting these parts of the auction on a line alone, or in bold, to make them easier to notice.
How to set up your "About Me" page
An About Me page lets the eBay community know who you are; it helps build your credibility as an honest seller. It also helps you show off your extraordinary treasures. Perhaps you specialize in baseball cards or jewelry, you can highlight it there. You don't have to know HTML to create a page; you can use the template provided.
